Job Description

Summary: The Sanitation Operator reports to the Sanitation Supervisor and primarily cleans and sanitizes all equipment in addition to other duties.


Essential Functions:

This position is responsible for: 

  • Properly cleans and sanitizes all equipment used in the handling, processing, packaging, and storing of all products, raw, and pasteurized.
  • Records Ph of all wastewater dumped in the sewer. Make sure it has been properly neutralized to a Ph of 6.5 to 9 prior to dumping.
  • Covers all electrical panels when cleaning around them.
  • Cleans the exterior of all tanks, lines, floors, walls and ceiling on a daily basis.
  • Ensures all hook ups are made correctly prior to C.I.P.
  • Reports any unsafe areas or accidents to a supervisor immediately.
  • Checks chemical titration strengths daily and notes results on C.I.P. charts on a daily basis
  • Reports any equipment or other problems to supervisor and makes use of maintenance work orders as needed.
  • Changes all air blows on pasteurized side on a daily basis.
  • Changes all syringe plugs OMI ports in the Raw Silo room and on pasteurized Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Fills out all C.I.P. charts with complete and accurate information as required by Company, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate dress and personal appearance standards. Knows, understands and adheres to all company policies and procedures. Follow all GMP’s.
  • Promotes and maintains company goodwill in all areas. Assists others and performs other tasks as appropriate and/or necessary. Helps maintain the positive image of the company in the trade.
  • Wears proper safety equipment: rubber gloves, safety glasses or face mask and apron.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:  High School diploma or GED equivalent


Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.  Ability to speak effectively with coworkers and management.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Ability to problem solve.
